Testing Effects of Melatonin on Uterine Contractions in Women

What we are studying

We want to learn more about how melatonin is related to contraction levels in women who are pregnant with their first child. Previous research has shown that melatonin concentration levels may be related to the number of uterine contractions.

Why it is important

We hope that this research will contribute to our collective understanding of the physiological mechanisms for melatonin action in the human uterus.

Who can participate

We are looking for pregnant women between the ages of 18 to 35 to participate in our study.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • First pregnancy
  • Single fetus
  • Must have pregnancy-associated obstetrical care and planned admission for delivery at Mass General Brigham or an MGB-affiliated institution.
